FLO (Families Like Ours)

December 3rd is a special adults only FLO featuring Robert O’Connor. Robert is an adult transracial adoptee of African-American descent. He and his older brother experienced multiple failed adoptions and foster care prior to being transracially adopted at the age of four. He grew up as part of one of the first generations of transracial adoptive families. He has used his life experiences to move from state ward to state ward administrator, from special ed. student to college professor, and from cultural isolation to practice innovation. His is a story of perseverance, power, and promise.
Registration is required.
FLO is a gathering for families who have adopted African American children (all ages) to share experiences and knowledge and provide mutual support.
Families Like Ours (FLO) believes in honoring our children’s African American heritage is imperative to helping them develop a positive self-identity. FLO is committed to strengthening multiracial/multicultural families by providing a network of education, resources, socialization, and support to trans-racially adopted children, their siblings and parents.
