We are deeply honored and humbled that you are taking the time to consider our story as you consider such a profound, difficult decision.
We want to thank you for your courage and your willingness to read more about us.
Our hearts go out to you, and we wish the very best for you and your child, today and in the future.
We’re Sandra and Liza. We first met each other and fell in love 14 years ago, and we adopted our first child, Santiago, four years ago. We have always known we want to raise a family together, and we are eager to welcome another child into our lives–and Santiago very much wants to be a big brother!
In our daily lives, we believe in living in the moment and in soaking in each new day with its joys and challenges. We love the outdoors, the simple pleasure of sharing meals together, and the opportunity to laugh every day. We take as much joy in a walk around the block with our dog as we do in a hike in one of the National Parks we love to visit. We care deeply about our community and the wider world, and are committed to living a simple life full of rich experiences. We live with intention and believe in letting our actions show who we are and who we want to be.
We are both passionate about our work as teachers; we both teach at Quaker schools because we share in the Quaker belief that there is something sacred within each and every individual. Sandra teaches Spanish, her native tongue, and Music to students in pre-K through 4th grade. Liza teaches English Literature, her greatest passion, to middle and high school students. We are both at our best when we are sharing our knowledge and our love of learning with young people; we both see teaching as a way of being in the world, not just a profession or career. Our experiences as teachers have given us a deep desire to provide our children with love, freedom, and safety as they explore many different passions, beliefs and ideas.
We believe strongly in the value of knowing one’s past and history, and in the importance of honesty and integrity. We feel so lucky to include Santiago’s birth family in our lives through visits, stories and photographs. We are committed to having an open adoption with you if that is something you would like. We would love our child to know the woman who made this choice and to recognize the love and the courage she has shared with both our child and with us.
Again, we thank you for taking the time to learn a bit more about us through this profile. We have great faith that you are on the path to finding the best parents for your child, and that our second child is on his or her own journey towards us.
