Salutations! We’re Erjia and Jeremiah, thanks for reading our profile. We applaud you, these efforts you’re making and the thoughts that you’re thinking and we know not all of them are very easy. We appreciate them. We appreciate you and your openness and, if you’re wondering, yes, we do come fully equipped with teddy bears.
We have pretty diverse backgrounds: Erjia teaches college and Jeremiah writes for children. Erjia grew up in a city of 8.5 million people in China and Jeremiah grew up on 200 acres of farm and forest in Indiana. Jeremiah is pretty handy with hammer and nails or a baking sheet and Erjia is bilingual. So, between the two of us, we feel like we can offer a child a happily broad and interesting experience in the world.
We’re very thankful we found each other in 2011, got married a few years later, adopted our daughter Celine in 2017, and started putting together a future that has led up to something like this. Our families are very happy too. Erjia’s family comes to visit and stay for a few months out of the year, painting on canvas and helping split wood. Jeremiah has lost count of how many cousins he has, and some of them too are adopted, but loves seeing them during long summer breaks and on holidays.
We spend time with friends here at home, on a wooded one-acre lot maybe five hundred feet from one of the best elementary schools in the state. Our neighborhood is very diverse and we hang out with our neighbors and their kids often. There’s a lot to enjoy around here. It’s a pretty area and Jeremiah is itching to build a treehouse big enough for our family to sit in and watch the rolling hills and sunsets. And for those reasons, and many more, we’re ready to give a child a warm home in the world and make Celine a big sister.
Ever our best, and blessings on all you need,
Erjia & Jeremiah
Fun Facts about Erjia & Jeremiah
Favorite Foods: Our tastes are pretty eclectic, but Jeremiah makes really good homemade bread (usually while watching the Great British Baking Show) and Erjia is a master of noodles.
Favorite Holidays: Christmas and Chinese New Year top the list here. How do you not love holidays that are about family, good food, and include flying reindeer or dragons?
Favorite Hobbies: Well, we garden. Sometimes that involves wrestling squirrels for the last strawberry, but it’s fun. Riding bikes is a delight. And we do rather love filling up our passports.
Favorite Places: The family farm is pretty special. Jeremiah’s great-grandfather started it and it’s full of woods and meadows, creeks and rivers. But, China is pretty great too. And Italy. Switzerland. Denmark has really good cookies. And Germany has splendid castles…and, well, there’s lots of nifty places we like, actually.
