We first met in 2008, while Mark was a mechanic and Marissa was a graduate student with her tiny Nissan needing some TLC. We were both immediately smitten–Mark by Marissa’s openness, artistic talents, and good vibes, and Marissa by Mark’s strong work ethic, sense of humor, and comforting smile. We found in each other a safe space of unconditional love, and in 2010, Mark popped the question with an antique diamond ring scored from a local pawn shop.
We’ve since been happily married for over ten years and have built a welcoming home together filled with love, warmth, and laughter. We live in a historic home, in a diverse residential community. We purchased it as a fixer-upper and have renovated it ourselves from top to bottom. Mark is now a Licensed Master Plumber, and Marissa passionately works at a university helping first-generation, low-income students.
While we endured infertility together, this heartbreaking struggle has only strengthened our love for one another—a love we hope to share with a child. We now look forward to growing our family through adoption! Thank you for taking the time to review our profile.
Fun Facts About Marissa & Mark
Favorite places: We love being home and cozy, and we’ve also had amazing adventures on the West Coast. We also enjoy visiting the Finger Lakes and the Adirondacks. All this said, some of our best times are just taking a short road trip to nearby small towns.
Favorite foods: We enjoy cooking together, and with friends, following cherished family recipes while also exploring new ones. When eating out, we enjoy pizza, bagels, Indian food, Mexican food, Mediterranean food, and Chinese food!
Favorite hobbies: Mark loves fixing things, building things, taking photos, adventuring, reading, gardening, and cooking. Marissa loves writing poetry, listening to music, gardening, photography, painting, baking, and adventuring with Mark.
Favorite holidays: Any holidays that get us together with family and friends!
