Telling the Tough Stuff: When Details of Your Child’s Story are Unknown, Complicated or Painful in NYC on 2/4/20
February 4 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
(For families who have already adopted) As parents by adoption we often attempt to shield our children from information about the difficult circumstances that led to their being adopted. However, fearing the worst is often worse than knowing the worst, for both parents and children. This interactive workshop, designed for post-adoptive families, will focus on ways to share specific difficult information with children in developmentally appropriate ways, while also examining the common stumbling blocks to doing so effectively. Facilitator: Stefani Moon, MA, LPC
Registration is required for all events.
Stefani Moon is a Licensed Professional Counselor, adjunct instructor for Rutgers School of Social Work and a certified Tuning in To Teens® & Tuning in To Kids® parent educator. A parent by transracial adoption, Stefani worked in the fields of adoption & child welfare for 20 years before taking on her current role as Program Manager for the Early Childhood Specialist Initiative at the Partnership for Maternal & Child Health. She is a frequent presenter at regional adoption conferences, child welfare agencies and other community associations.
